Daystar Power has been granted multiple licenses by the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC), covering electricity generation and distribution for industrial facilities across Lagos State.
The licenses were formally issued at LASERC's first major stakeholder engagement forum, during which the Commission awarded 14 new licenses and operating permits to private electricity operators, marking one of the most significant regulatory milestones in Lagos' energy history.

The LASERC licensing framework establishes a structured, regulated pathway for private operators to generate and distribute electricity at scale within Lagos State. It reflects the state government's commitment to building a decentralised electricity market capable of meeting the demands of one of Africa's largest and most dynamic urban economies.
LASERC has set an ambitious target of 97.5% electricity availability by 2030, with a goal of scaling privately delivered generation capacity to over 400MW through partnerships with licensed operators.
Daystar Power received 6 permits, which is record-breaking, covering generation and distribution for some of Lagos' most critical industrial facilities. These licenses formalise Daystar’s mandate to deliver regulated, high-quality power to industrial-scale customers in the state, building on the operational track record and infrastructure Daystar Power Group has developed across Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, and Togo.

"This is a proud moment for our team and a meaningful step forward for industrial energy in Lagos," said Oyin Olanrewaju, Group Head, Legal, Daystar Power. "The LASERC framework creates the kind of regulated environment where serious energy operators can deliver serious results. We are committed to meeting that standard."
