Daystar Power has signed an agreement with United Metal and Plastic Industry Limited (UMPI) to design, build, finance, operate and maintain a 4MW solar power plant for its manufacturing operations.
The project will reduce United Metal’s reliance on other sources of energy, helping the company lower energy costs and improve power reliability.

Reducing Energy Costs and Diesel Dependence
United Metal & Plastic manufactures plasticware and non-ferrous metal products for customers across Nigeria. Its energy-intensive operations require a consistent power supply and have relied on grid electricity and diesel generation.
The 4MW solar plant will add solar power to the company’s energy mix, supporting lower electricity cost and help reduce UMPI's carbon footprint.
A Solar Solution Without Upfront Capital
Daystar will manage the entire project lifecycle, from technical design and site assessment to financing, construction, operations, and maintenance.
United Metal receives the power it needs without committing capital to owning and operating the infrastructure, while Daystar Power takes responsibility for the asset and its long-term performance.

Expected Benefits for UMPI
The project will support UMPI through:
The project demonstrates how distributed solar can help energy-intensive manufacturers reduce operating costs while improving the reliability of their power supply.
